Floor patterns?

Patterned floors have been catching my eye recently.
I LOVE this Mary McDonald bathroom. The floor is kind of a neat way of adding some pattern to the room without having to do it through fabrics.
For an otherwise solid kitchen, the floor can add a nice visual element to the room.
Although sometimes I think they're a little overwhelming... What do you think??
Would you dare to paint your floors!?

  1. I love the modern Marie Antoinette vibe in the bathroom with all that powder blue! I don't think I'd ever risk painting my floors...maybe get a profesh in there, and even then, it would be some kind of border, and not an all-over pattern.

  2. Hmmm, no, not sure I'm ready for painted pattern floors. I had a black & white (chessboard) vinyl once in a rental and it was a real pain: all the dark colored muck showed up on the white squares, while the black squares never looked super glossy either.
I think I'll leave this style in the magazines!

  3. LOVE pattern on the floor absolutely LOVE it -especially in the kitchen! I fell in love with patterned floors a few months ago when Elle Decor featured a black kitchen that had patterned floors: http://www.abcddesign.com/archives/2009/04/09/taking-notes-for-the-abcd-design-file/

I am also crazy about the Hicks Waterjet Stone Collection. Do you know it? Gorgeous!!

I would also like to thank you for visiting ABCD Design and leaving a comment today. As a result, I "found" your blog - which is completely LOVELY!
