But for some reason with dining rooms I have one specific type. Had you asked me a few months ago what kind of dining rooms I liked, I don't know that I could have even told you. It just happened that I was repeatedly drawn to modern white chairs paired with a dark antique table. Certainly all of the light, the detailed ceiling and gorgeous bookshelves help to set the scene in this room, but I love the contrast of the sleek white chairs against the worn in wood of the table. I also love this table too and I laughed when I realized how similar it is to then one above it. I literally had to flip between the 2 several times before confirming that in fact they were NOT the same table just shot at different ends. These covered chairs are also really nice too! I like the slight French flair here.
This table only cost $30! It was purchased as part of a renovation done by Angela at The Painted House. I love pretty and cheap!
I really took a step out here --- a round table!
I really took a step out here --- a round table!
But isn't it funny how similar they really all are?!
Do you tend to like the same style? or are you sometimes all over the place like I usually am?

I like it ALL! Actually, if you could take the fourth (French-ish) picture and just put all of that into my dining room, I would think I had died and gone to heaven! Oh, and I did flip back and forth several times on those similar tables.

I love this combination..., old wood with white and/or modern. Actually that's where I am sitting right now... on a white tulip chair at my old wood dining room table.
ReplyDeleteTo me, one of the best things about blogging is seeing themes in the posts I create, and the pictures that inspire me. I think you have found a look that inspires you too! Beautiful pictures. I too love round tables - they just work so well in certain rooms.
ReplyDeleteWhite chairs are wonderful but of all the things I have dared to live with they are not one of them...yet! The pictures are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love the crisp white with the timber! A gorgeous combo!
ReplyDeleteB-E-A-UTIFUL!!! Love the contrast.
ReplyDeletePretty cool stuff, I saw this site with some useful info on antique dining chairs. I hope it helps you.
ReplyDeleteReally like it! And yes, I'm all over the map sometimes with color and styles.....I tend to see something good in all of them...just as with people...LOL! Luanne
ReplyDeleteLove the white with natural wood - beautiful inspiration shots
ReplyDeleteI agree, white chairs with a worn wood table is a great look.
ReplyDeleteMy style taste is all over the place -- but I think I've finally come to the conclusion that the look I like best is when old and new is mixed together with textured natural/organic elements and a touch of sparkle and glam. No idea what you would call that style -- "Confused"?? ;-)

I love white too! Maybe one day I´ll have non-messy children at home and can indulge my fantasies in this respect...
ReplyDeleteLOVE all these white chairs... must keep kids away or HEAVILY Scothgard them!
ReplyDeleteI like beat up tables the most, beat up chairs too. I like the idea that families have enjoyed meals there forever using the same furniture. And, that folks of all ages can make a mess while enjoying family and and food.
ReplyDeleteI love that second table with the slightly modern chairs. The table looks like it came from Room & Board. I wonder where the chairs are from in that photo?
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! Such great finds!
I really like the contrast too, but let me as you this. In your opinion, an all white environment is very nice to photograph but how liveable is it? I have kids and pets...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOur dining room table is nearly identical to the first one you've shown.
Now I'm thinking I need white chairs!
